12232 QUERCIFELIX ZEYLANICUS POLYP CGH TERR PRICE: $ 18.00 "Oak Leaf Creeper" Dwarf fern from Ceylon with dimorphic fronds held very low and tight. Terrarium Fern--very slow growing; very shallow wiry roots; must have high levels of humidity and fibrous media. This gem is a collector's excuse to start a Wardian case. Due to high demand currently, we need to accept orders for this very slow growing beauty on a propagate-to-order basis.

30632 RAPHIDOPHORA PANAMA [SPECIES] ARAC HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 Marvelous corrugated/waffled deep green leaves closely set on scandent vine--unflowered, thus possibly a large statured Epipremnum. "Panama Shingle Plant."

30396 RAPHIDOPHORA PINNATA [HORT/NYBG] ARAC TGH HP PRICE: $ 15.00 Extremely deeply lobed leaves resembling a palm more than its cousin, the Philodendrons, are produced in tight groups along the thick rambling scandent stem. The individual elaborate leaves are far more deeply fingered than any Monstera we offer. Beautiful, quite distinctiive Aroid , somewhat sensitive to chill, is always best presented on a mossed pole.

40863 REINECKIA CARNEA VARIEGATA LIL HP CGH HH PRICE: $ 6.25 Outstanding carpeting "False Lilyturf" with short, ranked leaves striped bright ivory; vigorous Japanese clone with brick red flowers followed by berries. Green species form marginally winter hardy here in Zone 6--this is less hardy. A far more successful and gorgeous citizen of your cool greenhouse (need a groundcover under the bench?) or as a beautiful visual in a bulbpan on or near a bright chill winter window.

42300 RHAPIS EXCELSA SELECTION PAL CGH $ 12.00 Reintroduced after two years! Long petioles rigidly present deep green pleated leaves with cookie cutter edges richly decorating the rusty haired erect clustering stalks. Avoid red spider with adequate levels of humidity.

50523 RHOEO BERMUDENSIS [SPATHACEA NANA] COMM HP PRICE: $ 3.50 Tight multi-headed mounds of stiff short fleshy leaves blushed pinkish purple beneath, in tight whorls obscuring the stout stems.

50524 RHOEO [TRADESCANTIA] BERMUDENSIS VARIEGATA (PINK) COMM HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.25 Hort: R. spathacea nana variegata. Bright pink and grapestained cream stripes on the short somewhat succulent leaves, hued pinkish purple beneath, which are tightly packed on short stout stems, quickly offsetting to form a colorful hemisphere. Easy short mounded houseplant as long as never exposed to chill. Now all Rhoeo are considered Tradescantia

50572 RHOEO [TRADESCANTIA] BERMUDENSIS VARIEGATA (GOLD) COMM TGH HD PRICE: $12.00 Very tidy multiheaded mounds of fleshy thickly overlapping foliage--each short thick leaf is irregularly striped a contrasting golden ochre to pastel lime; lovely with the purple blushed underleaf. NOT the far more dramatic pinkish cream striped cultivar. Very chill sensitive clone, as well as slow to offset--thus the price.

58306 RHOEO [TRADESCANTIA] BERMUDENSIS SITAKE'S GOLD COMM TGH HD PRICE: $ 12.00 Very tidy multiheaded mounds of fleshy thickly overlapping blond hued foliage--each with its distinct stripes of amethyst and champagne green--accented beautifully by the violet blushed underleaf.. A truely dramatic and easily grown entry into the "Moses in the Bullrushes" tribe. The habit is larger than and lower profiled than the typical bermudensis cultivars, yet not the stature of spathaceae. Very beautiful.

50570 RHOEO SPATHACEAE [DISCOLOR] COMM TGH HP PRICE: $ 8.25 The large statured traditional "Moses in a Boat" or "Oyster Plant" so called for the open oyster shell shaped bracts from which peep the white spiderflowers--boat shaped bracts tucked between the thickly packed outthrust fleshy green leaves, purpled beneath. This West Indies native is now more correctly named Tradescantia spathaceae, but seldom so identified in any plant book or magazine article. This is the one grandma grew.

50526 RHOEO SPATHACEA VITTATA VARIEGATA COMM TGH PRICE: $ 22.00 Variegated "Moses-in-a-Boat/Cradle/Raft" The old favorite with fleshy leaves striped yellow and purple beneath; the bracts holding small white flowers are boat-shaped. Demands consistent warmth to thrive.

40868 RIVINIA HUMILIS PHY TGH HP PRICE: $4.25 "Rouge Plant" or "Blushberry" Pendant sprays of bright red shiny berries follow the spikes of starry white flowers. Native from the far southern areas of USA on into Central America where also known as the "Currant Mimic Shrub." Always a favorite for the bright window pot; a novelity for winter greenhouse hobbyists. Newly "rediscovered" accent plant for the summer urn or windowbox. Even though this "Pokeweed" relative was a big hit in Victorian bedding; you can stump the experts today by introducing this red berried sweetheart into your summer plantings or combination containers. Some of the "newest" plants are the old Victorian reliables.

71152 ROSA SI [HYB] ROS HH CGH PRICE: $ 10.00 "Bonsai Rose" Miniature short (soon clumping) wiry woody stems support congested puffs of impossibly tiny glossy leaves topped with very demure teensy light pink windmill petaled blossoms. Although first treasured by lite gardeners, the bonsai fanciers have seriously embraced this astoundingly minute (yet quite vigorous) shrublet long popular with the designers of "High End" troughs. We have increased the number of our stock plants in order to keep up with demand. This always draws comment here at the gardens as a fully ten inch high twiggy shrublet in the rockery is busy boasting a topping of its dimunitive blossoms throughout the season.

71523 ROSA VERSCHERN [HYB] ROS HH CGH PRICE: $ 38.00 The famous "Variegated Rose" of Danish horticulture with richly splashed foliage perfect with the lovely double pink "Hybrid Tea Rose" blossoms topping the short upright canes. Yinger kindly shared this potentially difficult (because a cold greenhouse subject in far northern winters) creature with us; these are small rooted established cuttings--and since taken from mature wood, are inclined to bloom very early on under your careful supervision. Much in demand with the hobby greenhouse crowd so current availability can be less than immediate, although we have kept up admirably the last two seasons--as we have found this glorious prima donna to be impossibly difficult to ship during the heat of summer, we thus will hold your summer order until early fall. We have one specimen at the nursery here which as now survived seven winters outdoors without any severe damage.

*Various other Roses are offered in the HARDY PLANT SECTION

50059 RUELLIA AMOENA [GRAECIZANS] ACAN HP TGH PRICE: $ 1.50 "Red Christmas Pride" Erect somewhat woody stems support attractive foliage with purple blushed underleaf; scarlet pouch flowers reach their blooming peak midwinter. Extremely vigorous and as popular now as in Victorian times when it filled that pre-poinsettia era with red blossoms at Christmas.

57504 RUELLIA BRITTONIANA CHI CHI ACA HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.75 Stiff slim leaves rank the dark erect stems topped with showy bright pink blossoms; does well as bog plant, thus the "Pink Kathy Water Ruellia"--or grow in your outdoor summer beds as a pink flowered "Texas Petunia" and it will perform and perform and perform.

52991 RUELLIA BRITTONIANA KATHY FERGUSON ACAN CGH HH PRICE: $ 4.25 A vigorous heavily-bloomed very dwar selection of the woody Mexican shrublet with tidy linear leaves & long showy lavender tubular fls maturing to a brilliant deep purple; Lynn Lowery's new selection is sometimes offered as 'Katie's Dwarf.' Does as well as an aquatic as it does as a regular container or bedding subject--various customers have noted that they have an antique or special undrained pot on their summertime deck which they do NOT want to risk drilling a drainage hole into; so: if you plant bog loving 'Kathy' in this undrained pot, she will thrive especially if a bit of water collects on top.

30864 RUELLIA BRITTONIANA STRAWBERRIES & CREAM ACAN CGH HP PRICE: $ 6.25 Purple blue flowers over the richly white speckled leaves, turning blush pink in full sun. Scott Reaves discovered this dwarf variegated sport which does well in semiaquatic conditions. Very popular with indoor litegardeners who sit this in a saucer of water and report that it blooms constantly under the tubes.

50060 RUELLIA COLORATA ACAN TGH CGH PRICE: $ 15.00 "Lobster Claw" from the Amazon basin producing spikes of brilliant scarlet bracts coloring just in time for Christmas and staying bright carmine several months--pretty tubular blossoms emerge, then disappear from these long lasting showy bracts. This showy inflorescence tops each stem of this stout branched shrub of easy greenhouse culture where it can eventually reach several feet. We are occasionally sold very low due to its current fad status in Asia--please inquire before ordering.

50098 RUELLIA DEVOSIANA [HORT] AFFINITY POD HH HT PRICE: $ 8.00 Nearly prostrate stems with pairs of elongated dark toned leaves beautifully decorated with dusky pewter vein designs fading to soft lime tones. Tiny flowers of white and lilac. Best considered a terrarium subject. Nomenclature is very uncertain.

55570 RUELLIA MACRANTHA PROSTRATE SELECTION ACAN HP CGH PRICE: $ 2.25 Softly mounding "Mexican Petunia" now used as a groundcover throughout the tropics, readily produces many upward facing rosy purple "Christmas Pride" blossoms on the downy foliage. Recently discovered by "Tropicals Outdoors" designers for summer boxes and urns for its ability to quickly fill in gaps and vigorously cascade over the lip of and container.

50061 RUELLIA MAKOYANA ACAN TGH CGH PRICE: $6.00 "Monkey Plant." Purplish mauve slightly pendant flowers bloom freely on scandent handsome leaved low shrub.Brazil. Soft dark velvet leaves with vibrant silver veins ensure the continuing popularity of this beautiful "Trailing Velvet Plant."

40902 RUSCUS ACULEATUS LIL HP CGH HH PRICE: $ 10.00 "Butcher's Broom" erect stems with spiky leathery cladophylls (leaf-like branchlet) bearing riny green flowers, then reddish berries; dark green botanical curiosity used in wreaths. Also used as a medicinal herb: for a laxitive, for gout, and for hypertension control.

40903 RUSCUS HYPOGLOSSUM LIL CGH HP HH PRICE: $ 10.00 "Butchers Broom" Erect stems taller than R. aculeatus ,with the leathery cladophylls (the leaf like branchlet bearing the reduced leaves and fls in their centers) larger and paler than those of R. aculeatus. Handsome. Reputed winter hardy to zone 7; although we doubt this--but this does suggest that this handsome clumper will flourish in that chilly winter indoor location in your house that only Aspidistra seem to favor. Turkish native bent on giving a primitive tone to a planting; always transforming into a piece of sculpture in a decorative pot.

40904 RUSSELIA EQUISETIFORMIS [JUNCEA] SCR HP CGH HH PRICE: $ 3.75 "Coral Fountain Plant" Gracefully arching fine rush-like glossy stems bear many scarlet red tubular flowers--a living "Firecracker Factory" in constant bloom with bright light. This has nearly endless uses in garden and container designs.

49436 RUSSELIA SARMENTOSA SCR TGH HP 5.50 An unusual "Red Firecracker" plant with tightly whorled bunches of petite bright red tubular flowers at every leafy node on gracefully wide arching stems; the salvia like leaves turn purplish in full sun with cooler temps. Easy in sun. (Although customers inform us that they've observed this species blooming heavily in the shade in Mexico City's windowboxes.)

58406 RUSSELIA SARMENTOSA PETER'S KOMET SCR CGH TGH PRICE: $ 7.50 "Dwarf Firecracker Factory" Smaller foliage and shorter more deeply arching foliage than the species--but still with the many red tubular flowers clustered at each leafy node.
